Jones released
The Marlins have released left-handed reliever Beau Jones, the Destrehan High grad who was Louisiana’s Mr. Baseball in 2005. Jones struggled in his hometown return, posting a 7.54 ERA in 22 appearances. Though Jones fared well against left-handed batters, limiting them to six hits in 39 at-bats (.154), righties hit him at a .378 clip. His wild pitch in the eighth inning on Wednesday allowed the go-ahead run to score in an eventual Zephyrs’ loss.
