Marlins moves

We almost made it through the first month of the season without the Marlins dipping into the Zephyrs’ roster, but the run came to an end late Sunday. After Miami’s 8-4 loss to Arizona, the Marlins recalled outfielder Bryan Petersen and reliever Dan Jennings from New Orleans, while outfielder Chris Coghlan and reliever Mike Dunn were optioned to the Zephyrs. Both Coghlan and Dunn are expected to join the club on Tuesday in Round Rock.

Back on track

The Z’s made the most of the day off Wednesday, coming out swinging last night to beat Albuquerque, 9-4. A busy weekend at Zephyr Field starts tonight with postgame fireworks. Tomorrow is a team poster giveaway for the first 1,000 fans, along with the induction of the Class of 2012 into the New Orleans Professional Baseball Hall of Fame, and Sunday features an appearance from SpongeBob Squarepants to finish off the homestand.

Tonight’s lineup:

CF Mattison
SS Solano
RF Cousins
1B Montz
LF Petersen
3B M. Dominguez
C Armstrong
2B J. Dominguez
P Sanabia

Batteries refreshed

The Zephyrs limped into the first off day of the season by losing each of the final three games against Round Rock by a combined score of 25-2. With that behind them, the Z’s open a four-game set against Albuquerque tonight. Here’s the lineup:

CF Mattison
2B Solano
RF Cousins
1B Montz
LF Petersen
3B Dominguez
C Sammons
SS Velazquez

Back home!

Last night’s rainout cost the Zephyrs at least a share of first place in the division for the first time this season. Coupled with Oklahoma City’s 2-1 victory in Nashville, the Z’s slipped a half-game behind the RedHawks in the division. New Orleans returns home tonight, opening an eight-game homestand with the first of a four-game set against Round Rock. Mini Madonna will take the stage for a postgame concert!

Here’s the lineup:
