Zephyrs wrap up series in Omaha
The Zephyrs will wrap up a four game series today against the Storm Chasers.
Here are some notes about last nights game between the Z’s and Omaha.
*The Zephyrs blasted seven home runs and routed Omaha, 22-6. Chris Aguila hit a grand slam in the first inning, and the Z’s scored 17 runs over the final three frames, powered by six home runs, including two from Matt
Dominguez. Ruben Gotay led the way with six RBI, and Josh Kroeger scored five runs as the Z’s pounded out a season high 20 hits. Chris Sampson picked up his second victory on the year, giving up three runs in six innings.
*Chatsworth High School – Is as high school in suburban Los Angeles, in last nights game Chatworth alum’s Matt Dominguez, Bryan Petersen and Mike Moustakas combined to hit four home runs.
*With 22 runs and 22 RBI last night, New Orleans erased franchise records set in a 19-4 win at Iowa on June 9, 2007, surpassing the club mark for runs scored (19) and RBI (18) in a game. The 22 runs are the second-most
scored in the PCL this year behind Colorado Springs, who tallied 24 runs in a 24-6 win over Fresno on May 29.
*The Zephyrs tied a 10-year-old record for most home runs in a single game with seven. The Z’s hit seven home runs in Omaha on April 29, 2001. The seven home runs are a PCL-high on the year; four teams have
cracked six homers in a game.
