On the bad side of history
The Zephyrs lost to Tacoma 18-6 yesterday, the most runs allowed by the Z’s in Zephyr Field history. The only time the Z’s have allowed more runs in New Orleans was in 1996, when they lost Oklahoma City, 19-3. The team record is a 21-8 loss at Colorado Springs in 2004.
Tacoma’s Mike Carp became the fourth player to hit three home runs in a game, joining current Zephyrs hitting coach Damon Minor, who did it while playing for Fresno, current Milwaukee Brewers All-Star Ryan Braun (Nashville) and the Zephyrs’ Valentino Pascucci in 2008. It was nearly three years ago to the day when Russell Branyan hit three bombs against the Zephyrs in Nashville, the last player to do so.
The lineup as the Z’s try to get back on the winning track:
- LF Petersen
- 2B Thurston
- DH Rottino
- RF Aguila
- CF Kroeger
- 1B Salazar
- 3B Gotay
