Happy Mothers Day!

Its Mother’s Day in Iowa and the Zephyrs and Cubs meet in the third game of the series.

Last night’s 1-0 loss in ten innings was the first time in 8 years, a Z’s game went nine innings with no score.

The Zephyrs are 12-6 on Mother’s Day. The Z’s have met the Iowa Cubs three times on Mother’s Day and the team is 2-1. The Z’s are 7-3 on the road on Mother’s Day and this is the third consecutive season the ballclub is on the road on the holiday.

The Z’s are 6-2 in day games this season. The Zephyrs are averaging 5.89 runs per game in day games and 3.62 runs per game in night contests.

The Z’s will turn to opening day starter Eli Villanueva. Eli will make his 7th start of the season, the Z’s are 2-4 in his starts. 21 of the 26 runs he has allowed this season have come in the “big inning” He has allowed 3 or more runs in a single inning in 5 of his 6 starts.
