Relief pitcher Taylor Tankersley has signed a minor league contract with the New York Mets. Tankersley, the Marlins’ first-round draft pick in 2004, pitched in 27 games for the Zephyrs last season, going 4-2 with one save and a 3.42 ERA, and allowed just four hits in 34 at-bats against left-handers (.118).
He struggled in 27 big league games as a left-handed specialist for the Marlins, surrendering 20 baserunners in 12.0 innings and posting a 7.50 ERA, and was designated for assignment in October, electing free agency.
