The Z’s struggled on Saturday after the huge offensive explosion on Friday. NOLA with 13 runs in one inning and scored a season best 17 runs. NOLA jumped on Memphis with two in the first but couldn’t score again.
No roster moves today, Maybin will be officially added on Monday.
Sunday brings a new line up and the Z’s open the day 6.5 back of the leaders.
The temps got into the mid 90’s on Thursday as the Zephyrs get set to take on the Oklahoma City Redhawks. New Orleans has dropped three in a row and try to salvage a game tonight.

Tonight, the Zephyrs are making a fourth attempt at stringing together three consecutive home victories. Reno and Sacramento are the only other teams without three straight home wins this season. Brian Lawrence seems to be the ideal pitcher to have on the mound in the quest for three in a row; Lawrence has a 2.35 ERA in seven games (six starts) at Zephyr Field this season.
Hector Luna has been ill the last few days, keeping him out of the lineup. He’s still under the weather, and will miss a third straight game.
The Zephyrs have added another new player, Tom Mastny, a right-hander who signed a minor league deal with the Marlins after beginning the year with the independent Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League. Mastny, who pitched in 80 games over three seasons with the Cleveland Indians from 2006-08, was 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA with Somerset.
Mastny looks to help New Orleans continue its mastery of the Round Rock Express tonight; the Z’s are 6-2 against Round Rock this season, and have won 18 of the last 27 meetings with their division rivals.
The Zephyrs are set to play to a day game today in Iowa. Z’s have won two in a row and 4 of 5.
New Orleans made a few more moves today including sending down Kyle Gunderson to Double A. Gunderson was last nights winning pitcher.

14 meetings with the I-Cubs. In eight of the nine victories, the Zephyrs have
limited Iowa to two runs or fewer, including three
shutouts, and three games allowing just one run.
Adalberto Mendez makes his 1st start of
the season today for the Zephyrs. He
replaces Rick VandenHurk, he will be promoted tomorrow to the Marlins. Mendez has not made a start since 2007. He made 5 starts for the Daytona Cubs. Mendez has made 12 appearances between New
Orleans and Jacksonville
and is 2-1, 2.17 ERA between the two stops.

The Z’s have activated pitcher Dan Meyer. He was recently designated for assignment by Florida. Brad Stone was placed on the DL. Hunter Mence will rejoin the Z’s for the third time this season.
