The calendar says March, but it sure doesn’t feel like spring outside.
A side effect of the Saints winning the Super Bowl, perhaps?
It feels like spring in Jupiter, though, where the Marlins have
re-convened and are getting ready for the season. Items of interest for
Z’s fans include the battle for first base, between one of the top
hitters on last year’s Zephyrs team, Gaby Sanchez, and Slidell native Logan Morrison. Also, the starting rotation picture, beyond Josh Johnson and Ricky Nolasco, is muddled, to say the least. Chris Volstad, Anibal Sanchez, Rick VandenHurk, Sean West and Andrew Miller are the primary candidates for three spots.
Z’s fans are quite familiar with Cameron Maybin, who will be given a
chance to win the Marlins’ starting center field spot again this
spring. The back-ups in Florida’s outfield could have a familiar ring
to it as well, with Jai Miller and Brett Carroll looking to lock down
We’ll keep you posted on any developments from Jupiter.
Meanwhile, here at home, the office is keeping very busy getting ready
for the season (five weeks to go!). Keep an eye out around town for
2010 pocket schedules, and promotional billboards. And spread the word
- April 8th will be here before you know it, and hopefully Mother
